Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has placed an order for 1,085 electric buses with Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Group firm Evey Trans (EVEY).

The buses will be delivered in 20 months. The value of these 1,085 buses will be approximately Rs 1,800 crore for Olectra, which will also undertake the maintenance of these vehicles throughout the contract period.
In a filing to the stock exchanges on Monday, after EVEY received two letters of award (LOA) from TGSRTC, Olectra said the order consists of 1,025 (12 meters non-AC) electric buses and 60 (12 meters AC) electric buses for urban operations respectively.
The company said Olectra buses for this order will have 12-metre low-floor configurations in both air-conditioned (AC) and non-AC models, locally designed and manufactured to suit road conditions and high-frequency urban operations in India. Each bus will be equipped with advanced front and rear air suspension systems to increase ride comfort and passenger safety. The buses will be powered by high-capacity Lithium-ion battery packs offering a range of more than 250 kilometers per charge. The buses will support opportunity charging in approximately 45 minutes to ensure operational efficiency. Special wheelchair accommodation will also be integrated, Olectra said.
Managing director Mahesh Babu said that the order was received under the PM E-DRIVE programme. “Hyderabad is not only our hometown but also a city that represents innovation and progress. We look forward to working closely with TGSRTC to provide efficient, comfortable and sustainable public transport,” he added.
