The ₹5 trillion ambition: How Pirojsha Godrej plans to triple his group’s value in five years

You are a collector. Do you want to talk about this?

As a collector I think this is probably an inherent fault. Even when I was a child, I collected coins and stamps. I collect all kinds of things related to Indian history, but this collection is mostly focused on books and manuscripts like Hamzanama. Akbar ordered this manuscript, which we can arguably call the largest manuscript in the world. It took 10 to 15 years for the Mughal imperial library to be completed with 100 master painters. It is thought that there were 1,200 individual paintings with calligraphy on the back of the original manuscript. This was one of the many items taken from the library when Nadir Shah sacked Delhi. Most are now lost to history, but about 200 pages still survive. I was able to obtain several tables from this manuscript. I also have a large archive containing Gandhiji’s correspondence with his brother, his son, his blood test, his will, everything connected with Gandhiji and Tagore. It’s a pretty wide range, from the Harappan civilization to modern first editions like Rushdie and pretty much everything in between.
