Trump Backs Vivek Ramaswamy For Ohio Governor Race, Calls Him ‘Something Special’ | World News

US President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Indian-origin Republican Vivek Ramaswamy for the 2026 Ohio Governor’s race, calling him “something special” and praising his leadership qualities. Trump expressed his full support in a post on Truth Social, saying Ramaswamy would be a “great governor” for Ohio.

Trump described Ramaswamy, 38, as a “young, strong and smart” patriot who truly loved the country. “I know Vivek well, I ran against him and he is something special. He is Young, Strong and Smart! Vivek is also a very good person who truly loves our country,” Trump wrote.

The US president emphasized that Ramaswamy’s policies will focus on key areas such as economic growth, job creation, tax cuts, energy development, law and order and strengthening of the military. He also emphasized Ramaswamy’s commitment to border security, protecting the Second Amendment and supporting election integrity.

Trump added that Ramaswamy would never let the people of Ohio down and that he had his “complete and total support.” Ohio is considered a politically important state, and Trump’s support could be a big advantage for Ramaswamy as he campaigns for the governor’s seat.

Ramaswamy, a former biotechnology executive, has positioned himself as an outsider candidate with a pro-business and deregulation agenda closely aligned with Trump’s priorities. He also previously co-led the Department of Government Efficiency with Elon Musk.

The Ohio governor’s seat will be vacant after current Republican Governor Mike DeWine leaves office. Republican primaries are scheduled to be held in May 2026, followed by the general election in November 2026.
