White House staff fear Trump has ‘gone insane’ as dire nuclear warning issued | World | News

People in Washington are becoming increasingly concerned that President Donald Trump is ‘crazy,’ according to one expert.
Writing for iPaper, US commentator Simon Marks said: Donald TrumpHis increasingly erratic behavior over the past few days has dramatically increased the debate in Washington about whether the Commander-in-Chief is sane.
Trump, who also cited a New York Times investigation that claimed Trump was showing “signs of fatigue” and “the realities of aging in the office,” moved even closer to the central issue this week with an article titled “The Trump Administration is in a Psychotic State.”
iPaper also explained how the New York Times published an op-ed by White House Chief Correspondent Peter Baker, who wrote that Trump’s “erratic behavior and extreme comments in recent days… have sparked a debate about whether he’s crazy as a fox or just plain crazy.”
Jonathan Rauch of the Brookings Institution, a veteran of Washington, said last week’s expletive-filled social media post, which came shortly before the “an entire civilization will die tonight” threat, was the turning point, according to iPaper.
“There’s a lot more talk about the insanity of the presidency,” he says. “The mainstream media became gun-shy and convinced they were part of the problem, empowering him by insulting him to his face.”
“I think it’s gotten to a point where it becomes impossible not to talk about it, and maybe we’re at that point,” he added.
Experts also cited a now-deleted post on Truth Social of an AI-generated meme in which Mr. Trump depicted himself as Jesus, saying it was a step too far.
Mr Trump’s supporters wrote on social media to criticize him: “I don’t mean to sound lefty here, but I’m done with Trump. Him posting this confirms he’s trying to start a cult.”
Another user said: “Mr. President, I fully support your actions as PRESIDENT, but this post is TERRIBLE. You are completely disrespectful to the Christian men and women who support you. I am so sorry to say that you have disappointed me for once.”
