Popular drink bottle sold at Kmart, Target recalled amid fears of exploding lids, turning item into ‘projectile’

A popular beverage bottle sold at Kmart and Target has been urgently recalled following incidents in which caps flew off like projectiles, putting customers at risk of serious injury.
The 2L stainless steel, top-handle beverage bottle, sold in khaki and black, has a dangerous defect that causes the cap to shrink when exposed to hot liquids.
This shrinkage can cause the cap to violently pop off the bottle, posing a risk of tearing from impact or burn injuries from hot liquids.
The recall announcement made by the company includes the statement “Incidences have occurred.”
The recall affects bottles sold at discount retail giants Kmart and Target, with multiple product codes available at both retailers.
The notice, published on productsafety.gov.au, warns customers not to use the bottles for hot liquids under any circumstances.
Customers who own one of these bottles are advised to immediately stop using it for hot liquids.
Customers are asked to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund, regardless of whether they have a receipt or not.
Those who gift the bottle to someone else should contact the place they purchased it from to report the situation.
The recall is listed on the Australian product safety website under PRA number 2026/20875.
