The Pope sends warning to Trump as he breaks his silence on Iran war

Pope Leo XIV sent a strong message to US President Donald Trump regarding US military actions in the Middle East in his speech at the Vatican on Sunday.
In his speech, the Pope said, “I follow with deep concern what is happening in the Middle East and Iran during this turbulent period.”
“Stability and peace are achieved only by reasonable, sincere and responsible dialogue, not by mutual threats or the use of weapons that sow destruction, suffering and death,” he added.
Leo XIV is the first American-born Pope.
The Pope also warned that if the events continue, there could be greater bloodshed.
‘As we face the possibility of a tragedy of enormous proportions,’ he added, ‘I make a heartfelt appeal to the parties concerned to assume the moral responsibility to stop the spiral of violence before it spirals into an irreparable abyss!’
Pope Leo also prayed that nations would reconsider diplomatic solutions to secure peace.
‘Let diplomacy regain its role and promote the good of peoples, peoples who desire peaceful coexistence based on justice,’ he said, ‘And let us continue to pray for peace.’
