Man boasts of Mahindra Thar’s ‘benefits’ while driving on wrong side; netizens furious over viral video

In a video doing the rounds on social media, a man is seen driving on the wrong side of the road, openly boasting about the so-called “benefits” of his Mahindra Thar. To the shock of many viewers, the man is heard claiming that owning a Thar gives him a free pass to break traffic rules, even something as dangerous as driving on the wrong side.

In the undated clip, the man says Thar’s biggest advantage is that “even if you go the wrong way, no one will bother you.” “Nobody’s going to say anything,” he adds, continuing to drive against traffic. The location of the video could not be independently verified.

The clip quickly sparked harsh criticism online, with many users criticizing the driver for his careless and irresponsible behavior.

One angry X user questioned how the man was able to record such a video and asked what would happen if someone died due to dangerous driving.

“Thar is no longer just a car, it’s the personality of the ganwar people. A good Thar driver feels like a rare breed now,” wrote another user.

A third commented, “India is a lawless country and this Thar driver in NCR proves it.”
Another user wrote: “At least he’s being honest about why so many people are buying the Thar, an uncomfortable and aerodynamically unstable Jeep. The police could end their management of these #Thartards in two weeks if they get serious driving – but I doubt they’ll do that.” A different user quipped: “COVID is over, but another epidemic has taken over our roads – the Thartards mentality virus. How does buying a vehicle suddenly destroy common sense? This is shocking and dangerous. If anyone can figure out what psychological change is reversed after buying a Thar, I will sponsor a full week’s holiday. Until then, save your loved ones from buying this vehicle; this epidemic is real.”

The popular off-road driver rose to fame in recent years following a series of viral videos featuring reckless driving and road rage.

Notably, a controversy erupted in November last year after Haryana’s Director General of Police linked Thar to hooliganism. His words, “Whoever owns a Thar, his mind is not in the right place. Thar is not a car. This is a statement” caused a great reaction at that time.
