Melbourne synagogue arson: Counter-terror police charge second man

Anti -Terrorist Police accused a second man for a destructive swaddling attack through the Israeli Synagogue in Melbourne last year.

The 20 -year -old Meadow Heights man was arrested after raid his home last week and is accused of entering the Ripponlea synagogue and deliberately helping to establish a fire in December 2024.

He was accused of arson, the danger and theft of a motor vehicle, crimes with maximum penalties for up to 35 years behind bars.

On August 27, the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court will remain behind the railings until his next appearance.

Inspectors claim to be one of the three people responsible for the attack, using the stolen Blue Volkswagen Golf, the police believe that the luxury nightclub was also used in a fire bomb.

The latest arrest is followed by the 21 -year -old Giovanni Laulu from Werribee last month and the charges accused of stealing a escape car against the 20 -year -old Melton South man in July last year.

In May, the police accused a 20 -year -old Pakenham man on the nightclub fire.

Victoria Police Police Deputy Commissioner Tess Walsh said the detectives are determined to watch everyone concerned.

“Since any of those who participated in this attack seems to be safe from the police examination, we will never follow every way of investigation and every information provided by the public,” he said.

“Victoria police saw the effect of such a crime, both the Jewish community and the wider society. There is no room for such a crime in our state.”

AFP Deputy Deputy Commissioner Nick Read said that arrests were good in terms of the promises of the authorities of the authorities.

“We warned the future of more arrest and took another step towards justice today,” he said.
