After Child’s Drowning, Family Turns To Salt In Bid To Revive Her

Bagalkot: An 18-month-old girl who accidentally fell into a puddle while playing outside her home in Navanagar died on Monday, police said.
While hospital officials announced that the child had died, it was stated that the family kept the body in salt for about 2 hours in the hope of reviving the child. However, when no response was received, the family was convinced that he could not be resuscitated and proceeded with further formalities.
The dead child was playing outside his house in Navanagar when he went missing on Monday.
According to police, family members who were looking for the boy notified the police. During the search, police asked citizens to check nearby wells. The girl was later found in the ditch opposite the house and was rushed to Navanagar District Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
It was stated that after the body was brought to the hospital, family members relied on claims circulating on social media that the deceased could be brought back to life by placing him in salt. Based on this belief, they placed the child’s body in salt with his face uncovered for about two hours.
Since there was no response and the family was convinced that the child could not be resuscitated, the body was handed over for autopsy and further processing.
