Three arrested in 2-BHK housing allotment scam in Hyderabad’s Alwal; 79 forged certificates seized

Alwal police revealed three accused in the case at a press conference in Hyderabad.
Three people were arrested by the Alwal police for cheating around 100 families by promising them government-owned 2-BHK houses and providing fake allotment documents. Some 79 fake documents and 3 mobile phones used in fraud were seized.
The accused are identified as Trimulgherry resident Timmiri Gopinath Pushpalatha (54), his son Timmiri Gopinath Vishal (21) and 45-year-old Mahender Singh, owner of Radhaswamy photocopy center in Trimulgherry. All three were arrested on June 24.
According to police, the accused collected between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh from the victims by claiming that they could get allocation under the government’s 2-BHK housing scheme. Investigators said Pushpalatha was framed as a senior GHMC official with the ability to facilitate house allotments, leading the victims to believe the allegations.
To persuade applicants, the defendant submitted false government allocation documents, creating the impression that the homes had already been approved. Police said the victims waited nearly three years before they realized they had been deceived.
The case was registered at Alwal police station on May 20 based on a complaint filed by Gogikar Prasad. During the investigation, police found that Pushpalatha and Vishal played a major role in preparing and distributing fake certificates, while Mahender Singh helped design and print fake documents at the photocopy centre.
Officials said prime accused Jayaraj Gangadharan absconded along with Nisha Raj, Chintu Raj and a stamp business in Ranigunj. Efforts are ongoing to trace them.
Police appealed to the public not to pay money to people claiming they could receive government assistance, including housing, employment, land allocation or welfare schemes, and advised citizens to verify such claims with the relevant government department before making any payments.
