Three injured, dozens evacuated in house fire at Maroubra unit

Three people were injured in the unit fire in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.

Emergency services were called to Maroubra Portland Crescent on Sunday at 4.15 after the second -storey apartment was seen.

A 79 -year -old man escaped from the unit; However, his 74 -year -old partner stuck inside.

One of his neighbors, a 49 -year -old boy was able to come in and help the woman.

He suffered severe burns and was taken to the Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious situation.

Both men were taken to Wales Hospital with smoke breathing.

They are stable.

Residents in the unit block were evacuated as precaution.

The adjacent units suffered a little smoke and water damage.

A crime was founded.
