Tories win seat from Reform in council by-election in boost for Kemi Badenoch | Politics | News

The Conservatives won a seat from Reform UK in the council by-election in the latest sign of recovery for Kemi Badenoch’s party. The Conservative Party took the Cramlington South West ward on Northumberland County Council with 34.2% of the vote, up nine points.
Reform fell 13 points to second place with 26.1% of the vote. The Liberal Democrats came in third with 23 percent of the votes, while the Greens came in fourth with 14.3 percent of the votes.
It comes as the Tories continue to struggle following their defeat in the 2024 general election.
The survey found 22 per cent of voters backed the Conservatives; This rate increased by 3 percent compared to the previous survey.
Meanwhile, Reform’s lead narrowed, with Nigel Farage’s party receiving 25% of the vote, down 5% on the previous week.
Labor came third with 21%, Zack Polanski’s Greens came fourth with 13% and the Liberal Democrats came fourth with 12%.
It comes ahead of next month’s local elections, where Reform is expected to make big gains and Labor faces huge pressure.
