PM releases ₹100 coin, postal stamps at Sathya Sai Baba Centenary in Puttaparthi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, released a commemorative coin worth ₹100 and a set of postage stamps during the centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Prasanthi Nilayam here.

Addressing a large gathering of devotees and students at the Hill View Stadium, the Prime Minister recalled the spiritual leader’s decades of humanitarian service and legacy. Mr Modi called the centenary celebrations a “blessing for the nation”, noting that Sathya Sai Baba’s universal message of love, service and harmony had touched “millions around the world”.

“Sathya Sai Baba’s ideals of compassion, peace and service should guide India’s collective progress,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister said Baba’s motto “Love All, Serve All” perfectly suits India’s cultural values ​​and observed that the spiritual institutions established by Baba will continue to fill the gaps in rural development, health, education and disaster relief.

Highlighting the philanthropic projects of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s organisations, Mr Modi talked about medical services, drinking water projects covering over 3,000 km of pipelines and major relief efforts during the 2001 Bhuj earthquake in Gujarat.

He highlighted Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust’s financial assistance to girl children under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana; this has made an outstanding contribution to the national footprint of the scheme with four crore accounts and deposits exceeding ₹3.25 lakh crore.

Mr Modi reiterated his call to “Vocal for Local”, arguing that strengthening local economies is essential to achieve the government’s Viksit Bharat vision. He called on the nation to support domestic products, emphasizing the need and importance of self-sufficiency through broad public participation.

Signaling support for traditional rural livelihoods, the Prime Minister distributed 100 Gir cows to economically weak families through Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. Saying that this gesture is in line with the Central government’s Rashtriya Gokul Mission, he said similar initiatives in Varanasi have helped raise more than 1,000 Gir cattle in the district. Mr Modi also touched on the growing presence of Indian cattle breeds abroad, including in Rwanda.

Mr. Modi arrived at the Sri Sathya Sai International Airport here in the morning and reached the Prashanti Nilayam campus by road.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh and Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust Managing Trustee RJ Rathnakar were among the dignitaries who welcomed the Chief Minister.

Before heading to Hill View Stadium to attend the Centenary celebrations, Mr Modi offered silent prayers at the Maha Samadhi in Saibaba.

The district police administration has deployed a heavy police force in Puttaparthi amid digital surveillance.
