Tried it all from detox teas to early dinners? Woman who lost 50 lbs twice reveals the 2 weight loss trends that deserve a 10/10

Em Ricketts, a mother who has lost more than 50 LBS twice, and now fitness instructor Em Ricketts shared her honest decision on the most popular weight loss methods. He explained that his relationship with fitness has developed over the years to a more balanced approach, from punishing the routines directed by body hatred over the years, over the years.
Ricketts, “To be honest, thinking about some things I did 10 years ago, thinking that ‘fitness’ blows my mind.
“If you only exercise because you hate your body, how do you expect to fall in love with him? Being a mother changed my relationship even more, because not about how I looked at me, how much about how they looked at me.”
Here are the most talked about weight loss tendencies and science says.
Detox Teas – 1/10
Ricketts underestimates his words: “Zero evidence, zero benefit, mentally completely toxic. I don’t even like tea.” Experts support him. Studies have shown that detox teas do little for fat loss and even damage the liver. However, green tea is an exception. Packed with catechin and caffeine, it can slightly increase metabolism and fat oxidation.
Weight Education – 10/10
“There is nothing more powerful than seeing how strong your body is and watching this power progress, Rick said Ricketts.
A 2022 study from Edith Cowan University confirmed that resistance training significantly increased fat mass, muscle mass and weight management significantly. Weight lifting for Ricketts has become both physically and mentally transformatives.
Dinner before 18:00 – 1/10
“You won’t gain weight because you eat at 20:00, you’ll get more calorie eating than your body burns within 24 hours,” he said.
However, science suggests that there may be a little nuance. A study conducted by University of Oberta De Catalunya and Columbia University in 2024 found that calorie intake (after 17:00) can increase glucose levels and increase health risks. Nevertheless, total daily calories are more important than the clock.
Low calorie diets-3/10
Ricketts, “Trying to eat as little as possible, how small, stable deficit for my body to train = no brain,” he said.
Ultra -processed low -calorie foods such as chips may have the same number of calories as fruit, but the nutritional value is largely different. Experts warn about balanced diet, not over -restriction of sustainable weight loss.
Clean Food – 5/10
Ricketts warns perfection against excellence: “100% chasing is not enjoyable or accessible. However, a food-based approach was very important for 70-80% of my diet.”
Nutrition experts agree. All foods matched with regular activity are linked to a decrease in the risk of a Mediterranean diet, olive oil and fish, obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
Calorie deficit – 10/10
Obviously, “scientifically, the way to lose body fat, no restrictions, only moderation. More than 50lbs, after 2 x pregnancy +20 +lbs lost before pregnancy.”
McMaster University Research supports this: Although calorie deficiency is the cornerstone of fat loss, protein intake is the key to protecting the muscles.
High-protein diet-9/10
“To support lean muscle tissue growth, feeding my body with a high -protein diet has completely transformed my body composition to support lean muscle tissue growth.
A study in 2024 confirmed that increasing protein and fiber while reducing calories optimized weight loss. Protein not only helps to make muscle making, but also keeps hunger under control and prevents excessive eating.
Ricketts’s experience shows that Fad diets rarely work in the long term.
Instead, a calorie deficit, high -protein dishes and force training offers sustainable results, which is a strong result supported by science.
After all, as Ricketts said, fitness is not to punish your body, but to learn how to respect and feed.
