Trio charged with murder after man found dead in wheelie bin

Three people have been charged with murder after a body was found in a wheelie bin in Coventry.

Thomas Niven, 37, was found dead in Cash’s Park, Daimler Road, Coventry, on March 13.

West Midlands Police said Tammy Sturdy, 45, Camron Sturdy, 21, and Shane Turkington, 37, were charged with murder following Mr Niven’s death.

All three suspects, from Coventry, were detained and will appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning.

Police said support for the victim’s family was still being provided by specially trained police officers, adding that the police’s thoughts were in the thoughts of everyone who knew him.

In an earlier statement released through police, Mr Niven’s family said they were “shocked and devastated” by his death.

They added: “He was a pillar of strength to us all. He was loving and caring, loved all his family, was such a gentleman when it came to animals, his nieces and nephews.”

Police have appealed for anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact them by calling 101, quoting incident number 4148 of March 13.
