The Trump administration revoked the visas of six foreigners accused of mocking the Charlie Kirk assassination.
The State Department announced Tuesday that it was reviewing online social media posts and clips following Kirk’s death on a Utah college campus on Sept. 10.
In light of the disturbing content they found, authorities recommended that the visas of six foreign nationals be canceled.
Among those targeted was an Argentinian who said Kirk “dedicated his entire life to spreading racist, xenophobic, misogynistic rhetoric” and deserved to burn in hell, and a South African who said those who suffered from Kirk were “hurt”. He said that the racist rally resulted in a martyrdom attempt.’
A Mexican citizen whose visa was also canceled said that Kirk ‘died as a racist, died as a misogynist… there are people who deserve to die’.
The Brazilian national said Kirk ‘died too late’ and blamed the conservative activist for ‘a Nazi rally where they were paying tribute to him’.
The last two foreigners were a German citizen and a Paraguayan citizen. The first said ‘Democrats don’t complain when fascists die’, while the second called Kirk a ‘son of scum’ [who] He died on his own terms’.
The statement came after Donald Trump posthumously awarded Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, America’s highest civilian honor.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared several posts made by foreign nationals whose visas were cancelled.
Kirk’s widow, Erika, couldn’t hold back her tears as she thanked Trump for giving her the “best birthday present ever.”

Kirk was assassinated while arguing with students at Utah Valley University on September 10.

The move sparked outrage and condemnation from free speech advocates.
Lawyer Conor Fitzpatrick, of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), told the Daily Mail: ‘You cannot defend ‘our culture’ by eroding freedom of expression and thought, which is the cornerstone of what America stands for.
‘The Trump administration must stop punishing people simply for their views. The Supreme Court was clear that non-citizens also have the right to free speech.
‘No one in America should have to fear a knock on their door in the middle of the night because of their political views.’
FIRE is suing the administration to challenge provisions Rubio has used to deport individuals for their speech.
Meanwhile, Vice President J.D. Vance and other senior U.S. officials encouraged people to use offensive language about Kirk they see online.

The administration expelled South Africa’s ambassador to the United States for comments critical of Trump, revoked Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s visa to attend the U.N. General Assembly, and withdrew the visas of British punk-rap duo Bob Vylan.
It said it was reviewing the cases of more than 55 million current U.S. visa holders for possible violations of its standards.
These actions were criticized by civil rights groups as a violation of constitutional protections for free speech, which apply to everyone in the United States, not just American citizens.
