Trump and Putin to meet to discuss end of Ukraine war; Australia promises US a defence revamp ahead of Albanese-Trump meeting
Finance Minister Jim Chalmers addressed the media in Washington this morning with Defense Industry Minister Pat Conroy.
Asked whether Australia had been asked to contribute to peacekeeping efforts in Gaza following last week’s fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Conroy insisted Australia had not been contacted on the matter.

“First of all, no request has been made for Australia to make such a contribution. If a request is received, we will consider it in the normal process and the government will take a decision to have discussions with other militaries on contingency planning in relation to our military, as appropriate. And that is a normal course of action, but let me repeat, no request has been made.
“If a request is received we will consider it and the government will make a decision,” Conroy told reporters this morning.
