Trump backs Lindsey Graham’s sister to serve rest of Republican’s Senate term | US Senate

Donald Trump suggested that Lindsey Graham’s sister be appointed as the senator’s interim replacement following the senator’s death on Saturday.
Trump posted on social media that South Carolina governor Henry McMaster should appoint Darline Graham Nordone to serve out the remainder of Graham’s term, which ends in January.
“I suggested to Governor Henry McMaster that Lindsey Graham’s wonderful sister, Darline, serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina. This would be a wonderful tribute to Lindsey, who loved him so much!” wrote.
McMaster’s office announced that he will hold a press conference this afternoon to announce who he will choose to serve out the remainder of Lindsey Graham’s term.
He will also make statements about Graham’s life and services at the press conference to be held at 16:00 CET.
The appointee will serve as senator until Graham’s term ends in early January. A special Republican primary election for his permanent successor will be held on August 11.
