Trump boasts ‘we wiped them out’ in Freedom 250 speech as he takes aim at Iran | US | News

Donald Trump used his Freedom 250 speech on July 4 to brag about U.S. military efforts on Iran.

The president stated that Venezuela and Iran had been ‘destroyed’ when he spoke at the massive event in Washington DC, which was initially postponed due to weather conditions.

When he took the stage he boasted: “We’re doing better now than ever.”

“All over the world they are trying to be like us; no one can be like us. Live free or die,” he continued.

“All this talk by communists has no chance. We don’t want communists in our country. It never worked and it never will.

“We will always be at the top, we will never let our country fall. We will always be the best.”

“You look at Venezuela, you look at Iran, we destroyed it. We destroyed their army.”

He continued: “Our last victory… sank all the Iranian ships to the bottom of the sea. It all happened very quickly, in a very short time. We have the largest army anywhere in the world.”

He talked about protecting the right to bear arms, which was the second amendment during his presidency. Chants of ‘USA, USA, USA’ rose throughout the speech.

Throughout his speech, the president highlighted numerous American war veterans and flags throughout history. He described communism as ‘like a cancer’ and said ‘you have to cut it out quickly’.

Severe weather disrupted celebrations of the 250th anniversary of America’s independence in Washington on Saturday; here storms forced the evacuation of the National Mall for nearly two hours.

“I won’t let a little rain stop our 250th anniversary,” Trump said in a social media post as he announced plans to continue giving speeches.

Those attending were ordered to evacuate, with the Secret Service shouting ‘move, move’ after some were slow to leave the event. The severe weather warning caused everyone in attendance to evacuate and seek shelter.
