Giants fire manager Bob Melvin after 81-81 season

San Francisco Giants fired Senior Principal Bob Melvin a day after the end of the 2025 MLB normal season.
Melvin’s 2026 option was taken in July, but the giants chose to move in a different direction.
San Francisco finished 81-81 this year and wandered on the edge of the Playoff discussion. Despite the 13-3 increase in August, the club stopped in September and left the race.

Buster Posey, the head of the baseball operations of the giants, said, “After a careful assessment, we have determined that making a change in leadership is for the benefit of the team.” He said. With San Francisco, he went 161-163 in two seasons.

“I’m very grateful for him to play for him and the same man every day.” He said. “It is stable for us, always honest against players, we have backs. He did the best with what we gave him. The players, most of us probably haven’t played our talents.”
