Trump health alert triggered by ‘compassionate use’ request for 1 drug | US | News

President Donald Trump has alarmed medical experts after he allegedly requested a weight-loss pill to deal with symptoms that could lead to heart failure. Trump’s health has been a constant talking point for critics of his presidency and his allies trying to see it through.

The 47th President of the United States (80) alarmed experts when a “compassionate use” request was submitted to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Not only was the request unusual, it was for the drug retatrutide and would be used to treat sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension. The latter can lead to heart failure.

Luke Winkie, Slate‘s political analyst flagged the drug request and suggested that the lack of confirmation as to who requested the drugs could indicate it was a request from the president himself.

Winkie wrote: “This is the central warning that forms the basis of STAT’s explosive new report, which nevertheless implies—with the help of three sources and the first conspicuously undeniable statement from the White House—that: Donald Trump being heavily medicated for a range of serious health problems

“In April, two months before the president’s 80th birthday, a clinician at the National Institutes of Health submitted an unusual ‘compassionate use’ request to the Food and Drug Administration on behalf of a 79-year-old man.

“The request was for retatrutide and stated that the patient was experiencing obstructive sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension (essentially high blood pressure in the lungs), which was no joke and could lead to heart failure. (Merciful use only applies to people with serious or life-threatening conditions.)”

The request was not only made in April, but was also accepted by FDA officials. Winkie continued: “The FDA approved the objection, and STAT asked the White House whether the 79-year-old man in question was actually Donald Trump. A spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services responded with an offer of no comment.”

The alleged use of a wonder weight-loss drug stems from concerns about Trump’s mental health. The president constantly boasts of his glowing health report, but his ongoing neck rash, bruised hands and claims that he passed his dementia test with flying colors are worrying signs.

Vice President Dick Cheney’s former cardiologist, Dr. Jonathan Reiner underlined that other health problems may also be involved.

“The President has severe daytime sleepiness. He falls asleep very frequently. He has fallen asleep multiple times in the Oval Office, among people talking to him in the Cabinet room, and I was concerned yesterday that he might have fallen asleep during Memorial Day celebrations at Arlington National Cemetery,” she told CNN earlier this year.
