Trump says he is ‘highly unlikely’ to extend a ceasefire with Iran and ‘lots of bombs start going off’ if no deal is reached

President Donald Trump said an extension of the ceasefire with Iran was “highly unlikely” and warned that if Tehran did not accept the deal, “lots of bombs would start going off.”

The current two-week ceasefire is due to end ‘on Wednesday evening Washington time’, but Iran has not committed to participating in further talks in Islamabad this week.

‘I won’t rush to make a bad deal. “We have all the time in the world,” the US President said in a telephone interview with Bloomberg News.

He later told PBS News that if the two countries don’t reach an agreement, “lots of bombs will start going off” and that he “definitely expects” the war to resume immediately.

Trump had previously been undecided on whether he would extend the ceasefire, giving three different answers to five journalists during a question-and-answer session last week.

The president also said that the Strait of Hormuz will continue to be blockaded until the United States and Iran reach an agreement on war.

He later shared on Truth Social that he had ‘won A LOT OF WAR’ and that his deal ‘will be something the whole Earth will be proud of.’

Vice President J.D. Vance is leaving later today to continue negotiations in Pakistan, which begin Tuesday.

However, the Islamic Republic has not yet decided to send negotiators to Pakistan, citing the US naval blockade and Washington’s demands as the main obstacles to peace.

Trump went on a posting spree on Truth Social this evening, first saying: ‘The DEAL we make with Iran will be MUCH BETTER than the JCPOA, commonly referred to as the ‘Iran Nuclear Deal’, penned by Barack Hussein Obama and Sleepy Joe Biden, and one of the Worst Deals Ever Made for the Security of Our Country.’

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was a 2015 agreement between Iran and the US, UK, France, China, Russia and Germany to restrict Tehran’s nuclear program in order to ease sanctions.

The United States withdrew from this agreement in 2018 and is being monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Trump continued: ‘If I had not terminated this “Agreement”, Nuclear Weapons would have been used against Israel and the entire Middle East, including our beloved US Military Bases.’

He added: ‘If an agreement under the name ‘TRUMP’ is achieved, it will guarantee Peace, Security and Safety not only for Israel and the Middle East, but for Europe, America and everywhere else.

‘It will be something the whole Earth can be proud of, instead of the Shame and Humiliation we had to suffer for years due to incompetent and cowardly leadership!’

In another post he wrote: ‘I read Fake News saying I was under ‘pressure’ to make a deal. THIS IS NOT TRUE! I’m not under any pressure, but everything will happen relatively quickly! ‘Time is not my enemy, all that matters is that after 47 years we have finally fixed the MESS that other Presidents allowed to happen because they didn’t have the Courage or Foresight to do what needed to be done on Iran.’

Half an hour later he wrote again that “We won the War, it’s going VERY VERY well, our Military is great,” and then attacked “fake news” that would make you “think we actually lost the War.”

Minutes later he said: ‘Iranian leadership has forced hundreds of Ships to head towards the USA, mostly Texas, Louisiana and Alaska to retrieve their oil – Thank you very much!’

Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that the regime’s stance on hijacking talks with the US ‘has not changed so far’; This contradicted Trump’s statement that the US negotiating team was on its way to Islamabad.

The US President had previously dismissed claims that Iran would skip the meetings, telling the New York Post: ‘I assume no one is playing games at this point.’

‘The maritime blockade issue constitutes a very fundamental obstacle in the negotiations,’ Tasnim said.

The news agency added that Pakistani mediators confirmed that they had discussed the issue with the US President.

The regime also opposes additional unspecified US demands conveyed through diplomatic channels.

“The Iranian delegation believes that negotiations are just a waste of time unless America looks at the issue realistically and approaches the negotiating table with the same miscalculations that led to heavy defeat on the battlefield,” Tasnim said.

The news agency said Tehran ‘does not intend to participate in the American theater’ until significant obstacles are removed and ‘a clear horizon for reaching an agreement acceptable to Iran takes shape’.

As for meeting face-to-face with senior Iranian officials, Trump said it was ‘no problem’ to meet with them.

‘We have some very talented people if they want to meet, but I have no problem meeting them,’ he said.

Trump said that at the center of the discussions is a non-negotiable demand: The Islamic Republic must abandon its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

‘Get rid of their nuclear weapons. “This is all very simple,” he added. ‘There will be no nuclear weapons.’

Meanwhile, an Israeli source said that peace talks between Israel and Lebanon will continue in Washington on Thursday.

Lebanon’s president has previously said these talks should be seen separately from negotiations with Iran.
