Trump says Iran violated ceasefire with drone attacks in Hormuz Strait

President Donald Trump on Friday accused Iran of violating a ceasefire agreement with the United States by launching attack drones at ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, including a cargo ship that was hit off the coast of Oman on Thursday.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran shot down at least four Unidirectional Attack Drones on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Post.
“One of the drones crashed solidly into the upper deck of a large and very expensive Cargo Transport Ship,” the President wrote.
“There was damage, but the Ship was able to continue. We shot down three more Drones. Frankly, this is a stupid violation of our Armistice Agreement.”
Trump’s statement came right after the International Maritime Organization, a United Nations agency, paused efforts to evacuate ships and sailors stranded in the strait.
International Maritime Organization Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said the evacuation plan would be temporarily paused “in order to reaffirm that the necessary safety guarantees continue to be available for the ships on our evacuation list and for all ships in the area.”
