Trump threatens drug giants with crackdown over prices | Business

Donald Trump threatened to use every vehicle in our ammunition to destroy the drug giants if they did not reduce drug prices for Americans within 60 days.
On Thursday, the President wrote to managers in 17 companies and demanded that they match US prices at the lowest price offered in other developed countries for prescribed drugs.
Trump said that existing prices were “unacceptable burden için for US families.
Earlier this year, after returning to the White House and promised to reduce drug prices, the President accused the President of the pharmaceutical industry of trying to blame firms and demanding policies to be dismissed by claiming that the “most proposals” was “more” from the pharmaceutical industry.
“Making mistakes: a collaborative effort to reach global pricing parity will be the most effective way for companies, government and American patients, Tr said Trump. “However, if you refuse to take steps, we will distribute every vehicle in our ammunition to protect American families from constant abusive drug pricing practices.
“Americans demand lower drug prices and they need them today.”
Pfizer, Astrazeneca and GSK’s bosses were among those who received letters. Pfizer and GSK did not respond to comments. Astrazeneca avoided commenting.
Pfizer shares fell by 2%, Astrazeneca fell 3.8% and GSK fell 3.9% during the afternoon trade in New York.
At the center of Trump’s proposal, there is a status known as the “most preferred nation ıyan that he wants to connect the cost of drugs sold in the United States to the lowest prices paid elsewhere.
The White House demands that pharmaceutical companies expand this to the drugs used by older people through state -backed Medicaid Health Program and new drugs.
