Trump tries to drag King into Iran war as he makes bold claim ‘Charles agrees with me’ | Royal | News

US President Donald Trump tried to drag King Charles into a debate about the war with Iran in his speech at the state dinner held at the White House last night.

The president said: “Militarily we defeated that opponent and we will never allow that opponent, and Charles agrees with me, we will never allow that opponent to have nuclear weapons, they know that and they know that.”

“And we will stand victorious, defiant against the forces of communism, fascism, and tyranny.”

The USA has been in conflict with Iran since February 28, when it launched a joint attack with Israel on many important regions of Iran.

Iran responded by striking sites in the Middle East and closing the critical Strait of Hormuz trade route.

Countries committed to a short-term ceasefire, but no long-term peace agreement was reached.

King Charles and Queen Camilla met with President Trump during their state visit to the United States. The monarch addressed the US Congress earlier on Tuesday before addressing a state dinner held after Trump.

King Charles said in his speech at the White House banquet: “Yes, even in recent history we have had difficult moments.”

“When my mother visited me in 1957, one of her duties was to help make our relationship ‘special’ after the crisis in the Middle East.

“It’s hard to imagine something like this could happen today, almost 70 years later.”

Special guests at the dinner included golf star Rory McIlroy, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and Apple chief Tim Cook.

Others on the list included US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, his British counterpart Yvette Cooper, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine.
