President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Iran is “negotiating over gases” and that the regime thinks they can wait on him to reach a deal to end the war.
Speaking at a Cabinet meeting nearly three months after the launch of Operation Epic Fury, Trump said Iran “very much” wants to reach a deal.
“They haven’t gotten there so far. We’re not happy about it, but we will, we will. Either that or we’ll have to finish the job,” the president warned.
“But their navy is gone, as I’ve said a thousand times, their navy is gone. Their air force is gone. Everything is gone and they’re negotiating on smoke. But we’ll see what happens. Maybe we’ll have to go back and finish the job. Maybe we won’t,” he continued.

The president also said Iran’s economy was in “free fall” due to rising inflation and money that was “worth nothing.” “They are going back to the internet because they are being deceived,” he said, referring to reports on Tuesday that internet access had been partially restored in Iran after a long outage.
“They thought they would wait for me, you know, ‘We will wait for him, he has midterms.’ I don’t care about midterms. Look what happened last night? “This was the beginning of the midterm elections,” Trump added.

Trump also said, “Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. I am doing this for the world. I am not doing this just for ourselves. By the way, we have received great support from other countries. We do not need this at all. But we have received great support from other countries.” “The problem is, you get support when you don’t need it. You don’t get support when you need it. With Operation Epic Fury, our warfighters are ensuring that the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism never has a nuclear weapon. And they won’t.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that diplomacy remains the first option in resolving the war with Iran after Trump.

At the cabinet meeting, Rubio said, “There’s a deal to be made. That’s what we want to get done. I think there’s been some progress and some interest. We’ll see if progress can be made in the next few hours and days.” he said.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth added: “Whether it’s through the efforts of your negotiators to ensure they never have nuclear weapons, or whether it’s having to go back to the War Department to get the job done that way, we’re prepared to do it.”
