Two arrested for attempting to sell monitor lizard in Kollegal

Kollegal CID Forest Mobile Squad arrested two persons illegally carrying a monitor lizard for sale near the Cauvery river bank at Sattegala police station in Kollegal taluk of Chamarajanagar district.
Acting on the information provided, CID Forest Mobile Team personnel reached the river bank near Sattegala police station around 3.15 pm on Wednesday and, according to the statement, saw two people trying to sell a live monitor lizard kept in an iron cage surrounded by wire mesh.
Authorities immediately arrested the two men, seized the animal, and filed a lawsuit. It was stated that the arrested persons were Serdar alias Muhtar Pasha (45) and Rafi (44), both of whom live in Hunsur.
The raid was carried out by Kollegal CID Forest Mobile Squad Police Sub-Inspector Avinash and staff Basavaraj, Swamy, Jameel, Latha, Ramachandra, Prabhakar and Basavaraj under the guidance of CID Forest Division Inspector General of Police, Bengaluru and Madikeri CID Forest Division Police Inspector.
