Man shot with crossbow on University of Surrey campus

A man has been taken to hospital after being shot with a crossbow on the University of Surrey campus.
Surrey Police were called to Manor Park Student Village in Guildford at around 10am on Thursday.
The 21-year-old former student of the university, a Saudi national, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.
A man in his fifties is in hospital and his relatives are aware of the situation and are being supported by officers.
Emergency services will remain on scene and access to the Royal Surrey County Hospital will not be affected.
Chief Superintendent Jon Groenen said: “I appreciate that this incident will cause concern within our local communities and I can reassure you that we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident. We are working closely with the university as our investigation progresses.”
“The suspect was detained at the scene shortly after the incident and an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the attack.”
He continued: “The victim is in a serious condition in hospital and his relatives are aware of the situation and are being supported by officers.”
