Video of giant snake in unexpected location sparks outrage: ‘A pretty big problem’

Even before entering the emerging minefield of AI-generated videos, there was always uncertainty about whether user-generated content was real or staged. Incredibly, this extends to sightings of huge snakes in the wild.

One user took the bait r/InterestingAsF*** A video is shared on the subreddit showing a hiker passing through the Pantanal in Brazil talking to the camera after encountering a huge snake hanging in a stream.

A few smart Reddit users were quick to point out that things are not as they seem.

“This video belongs to the owner of Python, he is famous for showing his snake in different times and places, it is 100% entertainment,” they said. in question. Checking the link after seeing a different version of it same shot on TikTok page Clau Souza (@clausouza4399), owner.

A Redditor followed up with some logical follow-ups: “How could someone have such a big snake? Where could you hide it?”

“It’s a huge live shelter and there’s plenty of time to get it out,” one user said. replied. “Ideally, the creature is at least as long as the snake, so you would essentially need a small personal zoo enclosure for this.”

Meanwhile, the Burmese python is an invasive and destructive species. It has no business being in Brazil, so it’s best if the snake doesn’t actually take up residence there.

But it’s frustrating anyway to see them being bought and taken around the world as exotic pets. The situation becomes even worse if the snakes manage to escape and move outside their native ecosystem.

The problem is especially bad in South Florida, where invasive Burmese pythons seriously threaten native wildlife such as foxes, bobcats, opossums, raccoons and rabbits.

Florida is taking serious steps to eliminate the problem, including numerous challenges and programs that encourage hunting the animals. Still, the scale of the problem and the huge ripple effects on local wildlife show why Burmese pythons should not be used as pets or props in potentially viral videos.

Commenters on Reddit were alarmed by the images.

“This guy could eat my whole family but still have room to bring my dogs with him for dessert,” one viewer said drew attention.

“This is actually a pretty big problem in Florida.” in question the emergence of animals into the wild.

A different user “It is also a big ecological problem” added. “Small mammal populations in the Everglades have declined rapidly.”
