Two of Vladimir Putin’s nuclear bombers intercepted near UK amid ‘apocalypse’ warning | World | News

Two Russian nuclear bombers were intercepted in NATO airspace as Vladimir Putin continued to probe the alliance’s defenses. Two Tupolev-95MS nuclear missile carriers, known as “Bear” bombers, were intercepted over neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas.
Footage of the clash shows NATO aircraft tasked with intercepting the planes in a mission lasting “more than seven hours”. The bombers were accompanied by Sukhoi Su-30SM fighter jets and performed mid-flight refueling. The Russian Ministry of Defense said: “Strategic Tu-95MS missile carriers of the long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a planned flight in airspace over the neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas.”
This comes as Security Council Deputy Chairman and former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev warns that the world is heading towards nuclear war.
“Nuclear apocalypse is really possible. Those who do not accept this are dreamers or fools. We do not want this to happen. However, such a scenario should not be ignored. We must be prepared for this. Our country has nuclear strategic forces for this. These forces are supported and prepared.”
“I often receive criticism for using harsh rhetoric and talking about nuclear apocalypse. But unfortunately, it is actually possible. We would not want it.”
Putin’s aide also directed his venom at Western leaders, warning them that war was “inevitable.”
He said: “Europe and the European Union are run by idiots. They are destroying what has been built in the years since the EU transformed from a coal and steel union into a modern union.
“These are extremely unconstructive and narrow-minded people who talk about war with Russia.”
He said that Russia’s conflict with the West was of an “existential nature” and that “the conflict with Europe will not disappear during the lifetime of the current generation.”
Medvedev said, “If it is said every day that war with Russia is inevitable, the war will start. There may be sufficient justifications and reasons for this. Therefore, politicians need to calm down and engage in constructive dialogue.” he said.
He denied that Russia intended to attack the continent, saying it had no aggressive plans against Europe and adding that “unfortunately, local conflicts often precede global conflicts.”
