Child Safety Minister Amanda Camm hospitalised for chronic migraines amid state care controversy

Deputy Prime Minister Jarrod Bleijie confirmed on Wednesday that Camm was hospitalized on Tuesday for treatment of chronic migraines.
It comes after reports emerged on Saturday about the conditions of children in state care.
Housing Minister Sam O’Connor confirmed Camm’s presence in cabinet on Monday. He still has not spoken publicly on the matter.
Finance Minister David Janetzki was also asked to comment on the issue on Monday and said he would leave that to Camm.
Camm shared a video on Facebook on Wednesday morning confirming that he was in hospital and receiving specialist treatment.
“My relatives know that I have been living with migraine pain for a long time,” he said.
“This is a condition that isn’t talked about much and is much more than ‘just a headache’.
“I know many professionals, including my colleagues, who live with chronic migraine pain while continuing to perform at the highest level. I hope we can continue to have more open conversations about this often invisible condition.”
Shadow treasurer Shannon Fentiman and opposition child safety spokeswoman Corrine McMillan called for Camm to be sacked on Saturday over conditions for children in state care.
Fentiman says Camm has had too many failures. The rollout of merging IT puts children at riskand the decision to bring forward the application deadline child safety inquiry commission.
“This child safety minister is out of time,” he said.
“This prime minister promised to hold his ministers to account. He promised that key performance indicators would be implemented and ministers who were not performing would not keep their jobs.”
