Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday, May 1, 2026, said that the Labor Ministry has been directed to constitute a new wage board and ensure that all workers, especially those working in industries with 10 or more employees, receive fair wages.
Addressing ‘Shramveer Gaurav Samaroh 2026’ on International Labor Day in Lucknow, he said that industry and labor are interdependent. “If the industry develops, the workers will also advance, and if the workers develop, the industries will develop rapidly. Efforts are also on, in collaboration with insurance companies and entrepreneurs, to offer free health insurance cover of ₹5 lakh per annum to workers in industrial areas, which will facilitate treatment in approved hospitals,” he said.
