In another major blow to the UK animation industry, an award-winning company that works with the likes of Disney, Netflix and ITV has appointed administrators and is set to close after “continued industry pressures”. Blind Pig, a London-based collective specializing in cinema production activities, appointed Nick Parsk of Oury Clark, Slough, as director on 14 May. don’t notice It was published in the London Gazette on Thursday, May 21.
But this is not the end of the company’s troubles, as it has been announced that both Blind Pig and its sister company Absolute, a well-known full-service post-production studio, will be shutting down completely. In a statement, the company said that after nearly 30 years in the industry, it would cease operations “following persistent financial and market pressures affecting the wider commercial manufacturing sector.” It said the decision was made “after extensive consideration and every effort to continue trading in an increasingly difficult environment.”

“Ongoing changes in the industry environment, rising operational costs, tightening production budgets and a significant downturn in existing business have ultimately made the business unsustainable.”
Founded in 2009 and based in Fitzrovia in central London and with an international presence in New York City, Blind Pig is an award-winning creative collective specializing in animation, design and illustration. By handling projects from initial concept development to final completion, they help brands build audiences and tell stories with a “tail-to-tail” approach. Its core offerings include stylized hand-drawn 2D character animation, dynamic motion graphics, fully photorealistic 3D or Computer Graphics (CG), and creative AI integration.
They frequently work with major global brands and media networks including Google, Netflix, Disney, ITV and BBC. Notable examples include working on the massive Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things, fantasy series The Letter for the King, and producing title sequences and series graphics for a variety of properties under the Disney umbrella, including National Geographic’s Car SOS and Marvel graphics packages.

It has a close-knit boutique studio of approximately 11 to 20 core employees, including animators, designers, illustrators and creative directors. Most of the staff were laid off, except for those who completed ongoing projects. Television reported.
“This was an incredibly difficult decision,” said David Smith, CEO of Absolute and Blind Pig. “Absolute’s team, customers and collaborators have contributed tremendously to the company’s legacy, and we are deeply grateful to them for everything they have built. The challenges facing this industry are real and widespread, and despite our best efforts, we have not found a sustainable path forward.”
The company added that the closure “marks an extremely difficult time for everyone connected with the business.” The broader post-production and commercial production ecosystem has faced increasing strain in recent years, with many companies facing similar challenges. “Changing customer demands, increasing cost pressures, market consolidation and wider economic uncertainty have created challenging trading conditions across the industry.”
The news follows a series of closures of storied mail and VFX houses in recent years; In addition to Halo and Evolutions closing last year, Glassworks, Jellyfish Pictures, MPC and The Mill have also closed before.
