A major high street store has confirmed the closing date for several stores. This comes amid financial challenges currently facing the wider industry. Banks, supermarkets and fashion chains are feeling the pinch from the economic climate, leaving companies no choice but to ax stores across the country.
Claire’s, which operates more than 150 stores in the UK, is one of many businesses to fall into administration this year. The fashion chain, known for its affordable fashion, jewelery and hair accessories, went into administration in January 2026 following its collapse in August 2025. More than 150 stores and more than 1,000 jobs were left at risk.
The chain has launched closing sales across its branch network, with some stores already closed. The Swindon branch closed last week and April 11 was the last day the store accepted customers.
Another store’s confirmation date was also confirmed. The Bangor branch will close on April 18. Shoppers will be able to make the most of the ongoing closeout sale as inventory is cleared ahead of the closure.
Additionally, the news that the store in Bristol Yates Shopping Center would close was shared on social media. Discounts of up to 80 percent on products continue in the store. However, the store’s surprise bags are not included in the campaigns.
The exact date of closure of the store is unknown. Similarly, a 70% closing sale was launched for Claire’s branch in Chester.
Accordingly Retail NewspaperA French jewelery entrepreneur is in talks to save the UK arm of Claire’s Accessories. Julien Jarjoura is reportedly in talks with the business’s managers and landlords about a deal and believes the fashion chain is worth saving.
He said: “As an entrepreneur, I couldn’t stand the idea of leaving a business worth saving.”
“I was in London a few weeks ago and the landlords responded really positively.”
The entrepreneur has already acquired outlets in Austria, France, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.
