UK weather: June’s temperature record set to be broken again

Thursday will bring another day of warm weather across much of England and Wales; temperatures will once again rise to below 30 degrees Celsius.
For south-central England, the Midlands, east and north-east Wales, Thursday will be warmer than Wednesday.
Temperatures across central parts of southern England could reach 37 or 38C, beating the new June record set in Gosport on Wednesday.
It will also be a warmer day for Scotland and Northern Ireland, with temperatures rising to 25 to 30°C for many.
However, further north in Scotland the weather will still be cooler or around average, with top temperatures around 15-20C.
Disruption to the transport network is likely to continue, with train operators asking passengers to only travel if absolutely necessary.
The Met Office’s red extreme heat warning for the south Midlands, south-east Wales and southern England will remain in force until 23:59 BST on Thursday.
But amber extreme warnings, the second highest level, will remain in place until Saturday in some parts of England.
Although most of the UK will be sunny, we will see heavy showers and thunderstorms across the south-west of England later on Thursday. Here the Met Office will issue a yellow warning between 18:00 and 23:59 GMT.
Some local flash flooding may occur with strong winds and heavy rains.
