UK weather: Red heat warning remains in place but cooler weather on the way

On Friday, the worst of the heat and humidity will likely move eastward and feel a little cooler in the west.
Temperatures within the red warning area may peak at 37 or 38C for some.
There is a wider yellow warning extending across the Midlands and East Anglia, where temperatures are still likely to fall into the low 30s.
Following localized thunderstorms overnight in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England, thunderstorms may continue into the morning on Friday, and for some, thunderstorms may continue into the afternoon.
Due to the abundance of heat energy in the atmosphere, some thunderstorms can produce heavy downpours such as high winds, frequent lightning, and hail.
Friday night will be less warm, but temperatures may still fall below 20C in southeast England and East Anglia.
