Moment killer tries to throw rookie police officer off balcony after hitting her over the head with bottle when she tried to save his life

This is the terrifying moment a killer tried to throw a rookie police officer off a balcony after hitting him in the head with a bottle to save his life.
Guy Pottle was today jailed for ten and a half years for violently attacking PC Beer with a glass bottle, hitting him in the face and trying to throw his head off a building.
Pottle was standing on the wrong side of the first-floor railings of a property in Newton Abbot, Devon, in February this year when PC Alice Beer was called to stop him from jumping to his death.
Police body camera footage shows him running up the stairs to reach Pottle from behind the railing.
He quickly grabbed his right arm, saving his life, but didn’t realize he was holding a glass bottle in his other hand.
The 39-year-old man then threw PC Beer at his head, which partially blinded him in his right eye.
While PC Beer held his eye, Pottle climbed backwards over the railings, grabbed her by the legs and lifted her onto the metal railings.
Fearing he would die, he scrambled to escape over the edge of the balcony before Pottle brutally beat him to the face and head, covering the camera in bloodstains.
PC Beer, who was only months away from his dream job as a police officer, managed to spray Pottle with incapacitating spray before throwing himself from the balcony and was arrested.

Pottle said he dropped the 1.5-litre bottle of vodka and did not remember attacking PC Beer with the bottle or attempting to throw his head over the balcony. Picture: PC Beer tries to get Pottle back over the railing
PC Beer, who was just months away from his dream job as a police officer, managed to spray Pottle (pictured) with incapacitating spray before throwing himself from the balcony and was arrested.
He said: ‘He was trying to kill or seriously injure me. I thought I was going to die. ‘I was really scared.’
In a victim impact statement, PC Beer said he now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, flashbacks and nightmares and fears he may have to quit his ‘dream job’ after the attack.
Harrowing body camera footage of the attack was shown in court and Judge James Patrick said it was ‘chilling’.
Pottle said he dropped the 1.5-litre bottle of vodka and did not remember attacking PC Beer with the bottle or attempting to throw his head over the balcony.
Lee Brembridge, defending Pottle, said that although there was ‘a lot not to like’ about him, he was a victim of childhood sexual violence and had ADHD.
‘You are an extremely dangerous man and the public needs to be protected from you,’ the judge said.
Praising PC Beer’s bravery, he said: ‘He came to your aid motivated by simply trying to do his best to help you’ and the effects on him were ‘devastating’.
Pottle was sentenced to ten years and six months for GBH, three years for wounding PC Beer and five years for dangerous criminality.
But this isn’t the first immoral crime Guy Pottle has committed.
Pottle killed 40-year-old Anthony Moore with a single punch to the head, just two days after he was released from prison on June 30, 2018.
Pottle said Mr Moore had angered him by taking a sip from a bottle of wine after he had spent the day socializing with friends at the Respect Festival in Exeter, Devon.
At around 10.40pm, Pottle was seen drinking outside Tesco Subway in Exeter High Street when Mr Moore grabbed the bottle from him to take a swig, Devon Live reported.
Pottle snatched it back and punched Mr. Moore in the face, and Mr. Moore fell unconscious to the pavement while his girlfriend, Amy Tatum, consoled him.
While Miss Tatum knelt next to her boyfriend and cried, Pottle hit his victim with a single ‘haymaker’ before walking away with the bottle.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and took Mr. Moore to hospital, but he died on July 9 after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
He denied manslaughter but was found guilty and sentenced to six years in prison.
Pottle was previously sentenced to four years in prison for attacking a friend with a machete in 2014 and was said to have a long history of violence.
