Trump says Hamas may release 20 hostages ‘a little bit early’ under deal

President Donald Trump said Sunday that Hamas may release the 20 hostages it is holding “a little early.”

Trump spoke to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to the Middle East, where he was asked about the latest situation with the hostages and when they might be released.

“So there are hostages – I understand there are 20 of them – and we can get them out a little early,” Trump said. “It was really amazing to get them because we were involved and they were in places you don’t want to know about.”

The president’s comments come as Hamas faces a deadline on returning all remaining hostages to Israel, following a peace deal that ended the two-year Israel-Hamas war.

The peace agreement brokered by President Trump sparked celebrations in the region, which has been plagued by violence since Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023.
