SPC calls for collective fight against drug menace

The State Police Chief (SPC) Ravada A. Chandrasekhar sought collective actions to combat the drug threat and described it as a national security concern infiltrating schools, colleges and rural communities.

He talked to the police in Kannur in the delivery of SOXTOXA analyzers, a device to control the presence of drugs, said that 25,000 drugs have been recorded so far this year.

SPC said that drug addiction is no longer limited to the dark streets, but that it was destroying young people, destroying families and fueled organized crime.

“Kerala should not be hunted with high literacy rate and this silent epidemic. Application, early detection, timely intervention and strong partnership are essential,” he said.

Emphasizing the application efforts, Mr. Chandrasekhar said that 30,000 cases were identified in 2023 and 27,000 cases were identified in 2024. This year, only the police detected 3,000 Ganga case and seized 17 kg of MDMA.

Pointing to large -scale drug seizures in ports and airports, he said it was very important to drown the execution chains. He praised the police staff for their efforts, but emphasized the need for participation of the society.

The SPC called on civilian bodies, NGOs, educational institutions, parents, media and student police students to participate in the fight against drugs.

Sotoxa analyzers were provided by using the corporate social responsibility funds of the Walker Foundation in cooperation with Kannur Seaside Rotary Club. General Inspector (North Region) Rajpal Meena, Kannur Range Deputy Inspector General Gh Yatheesh Chandra, Regional Police Chief (Kannur City) P. Nidhinraj and Walker Foundation President VKC Naushad was present.
