NatWest shutting 7 more branches after 49 closures across UK – full list | UK | News

NatWest has confirmed that a further seven bank branches will close completely due to increased demand for mobile and online services. The big bank has closed 49 locations across the UK in 2025, with more to follow this year as face-to-face banking continues to decline. The closures are part of the bank’s ongoing shift toward digital banking, as more customers switch from in-branch banking to mobile apps and online services.

NatWest confirmed customers will be notified 12 weeks in advance of the branch closure announcement and will be informed of the exact closing date via a poster displayed in the branch or through a closure guide available in the branch or online. NatWest said customers will have many other ways to bank after branch closures, including using smartphones, tablets and computers to talk to staff or arrange a free face-to-face Financial Health Check “wherever you are”.

Customer Support Specialists are also on hand to provide tailored support to vulnerable customers and NatWest has a dedicated support line set up for customers over the age of 60 or in “extended isolation”. In addition, customers can visit PTT branches to withdraw cash, check their balances, and deposit cash and cheques.

NatWest is also working with Cash Access UK to set up “banking hubs” to provide community pop-ups following closures to help customers transition to digital banking.

Commenting on the closures, NatWest said: “The way people bank with us has changed significantly in recent years, with demand for mobile and online services increasing as customers benefit from a faster and easier way to bank.

“As we respond to this demand, we recognize our responsibility to provide support for change to our customers who feel less able to benefit from these services.

“We are therefore contacting customers affected by the closure and proactively contacting vulnerable customers and regular branch users. We must review our branches and ensure they are in the locations where customers use them most.”

NatWest has confirmed that all the following seven branches in England will be closed:

  • Ashby-de-la-Zouch – closing, date to be confirmed
  • Cromer – closing 27 January 2026
