The incident, which occurred on November 3, 2025, was captured on security cameras that showed a woman with her face covered in a dupatta entering a shop. The woman, disguised as a customer, waited for the right moment to throw ground pepper at the shopkeeper sitting in front of her. However, his plan went awry when the chili powder failed to reach the shop owner’s eyes and the man immediately stood up and grabbed him. He slapped her repeatedly, about 20 times in 25 seconds, before dragging her out of the store.

Meanwhile, the shopkeeper chose not to make a formal complaint; However, police officials launched an investigation to find the woman involved in the incident. Authorities are relying on CCTV footage to identify and locate the woman, and efforts are ongoing to bring her to justice.
In its statement to X on Thursday, Ahmedabad Police said, “In this case, the complainant was personally met twice to take a statement in this regard and was asked to file a complaint, but the complainant businessman had no inclination to file any complaint in this regard. However, an investigation was initiated to search for the suspect based on the CCTV footage.”
