US driver kills one and injures at least 14 in car-ramming attack at child’s party | Maryland

A driver crashed into a group of people at a child’s birthday party outside Washington, D.C., late Saturday, killing a woman in her 30s and injuring at least 14 people, including eight children.

One expression Released by the Bladensburg Police Department in Maryland, police said the driver of the crashed vehicle surrendered and was identified as a 66-year-old man from the surrounding area.

“Hit and run vehicle collision updated with death,” they announced in an update Sunday.

Shortly after 10 p.m., police were called to the scene where the vehicle crashed into several people gathered outside a home for a child’s birthday party. Eleven people, including children aged two to nine, were taken to local hospitals.

The driver fled the scene on foot but later surrendered to police.

In a statement on social media, the Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department confirmed that a woman and child were in critical condition.

Police confirmed Sunday that one of the women being treated died from her injuries and identified her as 31-year-old Ashley Hernandez Gutierrez.
