After planning to place US President Donald Trump’s US military forces in the democratic city, dozens of protesters gathered in Portland. On September 28, the defense secretary Pete Hegseth ordered 200 Oregon National Guard troops to be deployed under federal authority, even if he filed a lawsuit to prevent Oregon State movement. Trump argued that troops were necessary to protect federal immigration facilities and allow them to use ‘full power if necessary’.
