Woman in custody as pre-schooler’s death investigated

A woman was detained after police found the body of a preschool child at home.

Police descended on Wyong’s home on the NSW Central Coast after a 32-year-old woman reported to her local police station on Saturday.

Police officers tried to talk to the woman but were unsuccessful.

The body of the child, believed to be a four-year-old boy, was found at home late in the afternoon with a serious injury to his arm.

The child has not yet been officially identified, but it is believed the woman who was later arrested knew him.

Police were still at the scene on Sunday morning and will investigate what happened to the boy with the help of Homicide Squad.
