US Vice President JD Vance had previously been in the spotlight after videos of his comments on interfaith marriage went viral. He defended his earlier statement in which he expressed the hope that his wife, Usha Vance, who is Hindu, would convert to Christianity and declared that she “is not a Christian and has no intention of converting.”
Vice President JD Vance was also subject to controversy online because of the embrace he was captured in photographs with Erika Kirk, wife of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. This interaction, featured in the introductory speech, caused a stir on social media, with some users calling it “inappropriate”. Others defended the move, emphasizing their friendship.
At the end of 2025, photos of Usha Vance without her wedding ring triggered a wave of speculation in tabloid reports about possible marital problems. A spokesperson for the Second Lady denied these allegations, stating that Usha, a mother of three young children, occasionally forgets her ring while doing household chores. Vance also addressed the rumors in a December interview with NBC News, saying he and Usha were “having fun with it” and emphasizing that their marriage “remains strong as ever.”
Usha Vance maintains strong ties to her Indian heritage. His parents are from Andhra Pradesh and his family has deep roots in Indian culture, especially Telugu traditions.
