Utah boarding school where Paris Hilton alleged abuse as a teen loses its licence

The license of the girls’ boarding school, where American socialite Paris Hilton claimed she was harassed in her youth, has been revoked.
Utah state regulators cited examples of unnecessary restraint, aggressive physical contact and neglect among non-compliance issues at Provo Canyon School’s Springville campus dating back to 2025.
Hilton, who campaigned for the school’s closure and testified before Congress about her experiences there in the 1990s, said the facility was “failing the children in its care.”
The school said it was considering appealing the decision. The girls’ facility’s website describes it as an intensive, psychiatric youth residential treatment center for girls ages 12 to 18.
The Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) said the school “failed to provide viable health and safety services to clients.”
The inpatient treatment license has been revoked and all services on campus must be stopped until August 6, he said the letter, external from state regulators.
The school has 15 days to appeal the decision.
Hilton, the 45-year-old social media phenomenon, said in a statement to the BBC: “For more than fifty years, children have come forward with stories of abuse, neglect and trauma.
“Today, the state confirmed what survivors have known all along: Provo Canyon School failed the children in its care. I was one of those children.
“I know what it feels like to cry for help and believe no one will come. The children still in that facility today know that eventually someone will come to protect them.”
