Assam Man Killed by Mob in Kerala Following Theft Accusation

Kochi: An Assamese man was beaten to death near Perumbavoor on Wednesday morning by six of his colleagues, also from the same state, who suspected him of trying to steal one of his phones, police said.

An officer from Perumbavoor police station said that all the six accused have been detained and are being interrogated.

The officer said they have not been formally arrested at this time and no case has been registered yet.

“We are collecting all the details,” he said.

Police said the victim was 25 years old and he and six other accused worked at a plywood company in Perumbavoor.

The police officer said, “After beating the victim, the defendant took him to the hospital and he died there due to his injuries. The hospital informed us.”
