Victorian Premier reconsidering position ahead of expected challenge from Ben Carroll

Allan thanked Victorians and said that was the most important thing he would say today.

“It has been the honor of my life to serve you as your Prime Minister,” he said.

“After 1,036 days in this role, I am stepping down. None of them have been wasted, none of them have been easy. And let’s be honest, this week has been difficult.

“But let’s be clear: The average working family has it tougher. They’re the ones managing the rate hikes. They’re the ones going through the housing crisis and facing economic changes no one could have predicted. They’re the people I always put first.”

“I entered politics to fight for them, and no matter what I do from now on, I will still fight for them.”
