Vizag To Get 100 E-Buses Under PM E-Bus Sewa

VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam will get 100 electric buses in the first phase under the Central government’s Prime Minister’s e-Bus Sewerage scheme, state transport minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy said after inaugurating the power room at Simhapuri e-Bus depot on Saturday.

The minister said the 100 buses are part of the 750 e-buses approved for Andhra Pradesh. He added that electric buses will also be provided to Vijayawada, Tirupati, Rajamahendravaram and Guntur under the programme.

Ramprasad Reddy said the depot’s modern power room is being prepared for the operation of the new fleet, while the supporting infrastructure, including the substation and charging station, is also nearing completion. He said the electric buses are expected to be introduced within the next two to three months and directed officials to complete the remaining works before their arrival.

He said the new fleet will strengthen APSRTC services by offering passengers cleaner, more efficient and environmentally friendly public transport alongside existing buses.

The minister reiterated that the state government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is committed to promoting electric mobility and modernizing public transport.

Addressing speculations about the future of APSRTC, Ramprasad Reddy said that the company will not be privatized as long as the coalition government remains in power and urged people not to believe rumours.

APSRTC Vizianagaram district managing director G. Vijayageetha, Visakhapatnam district public transport officer B. Appalanaidu, deputy traffic manager, engineers, depot managers, officials, employees and representatives of various RTC unions attended the programme.
