Daniel Turpin, 35, died after being attacked by a suspected 15-foot-long white shark off the coast of Albany on Saturday.

Turpin’s family released a statement about the 35-year-old’s death, calling him “a much-loved husband, son, brother and uncle.”

“Our family is devastated by this tragic loss and we are still trying to come to terms with what happened. Daniel brought great joy to the lives of those who knew and loved him and we will miss him greatly,” the family wrote.
